do you ever change the way you set up, i.e tom configuration cymbal placement?

i never used to but its become a bit of a hibit lately! youd be suprised how different things sound when you mix them up like putting cymbals on different stands, pairing up two different toms.

try it , you might like it

I agree - I have been with the same setup for a while, and then a week ago I changed things around, and tried a new tuning on all the heads!

It feels so much better - change is as good as a rest...I feel like I am getting things out that I couldn't before - more due to the act of changing rather than the changes!

Get used to it...  That way if you ever sit in on someone else's kit you can play it..

I am always adding or removing pieces on my studio kit.  I mentioned before some cool setups in the new Mapex "Dream Kt" catalog.  And remember it does not all have to match...

It is always great to play around. You will never find two kits that sound the same, or play the same. I am so bad at setting up for gigs that my setup changes everytime (I will get some memory locks )

Around here the open mic scene is very active, so there you are always sitting behind someone elses kit. Interesting to take what you always play and split it up in new ways
