I have been playing the Powershifter for close to a year and I just switched to the DW9000. I loved the "red" aggressive cam but I could never seem to find a comfortable spot on the footboard so i felt that the pedal would fight me a bit. This is a personal reflection and should be considered only my opinion.
I sat down on a throne at the drum shop for an hour or so and went through the pedals just to see what felt right to me. I had it in my mind I was going to purchase the Iron Cobras because I just finished a recording session where the kit had them and they felt great to me. I resisted the temptation to try the DW9000 at first because I despised of the DW5000. I played that for a while and the pedal fought me every step of the way. After much testing the guy that worked there, whom I trust from several great reccomendations in the past, I sat down with the DW9000. He even put it on the same kick that I own to try it out. That was the feel I was looking for. It seemed so natural...with a great balance between feel and power. i bought it on the spot. Practice yesterday went great. The band noticed a more powerful kick sound, and I had tremendous confidence in my foot playing. I would equate it to holding the sticks "correctly"...sure you can play holding the drumsticks however you want...but when you get it right you have maximum control and speed. | | Message posted 3032 days ago | IP Logged |

| I agree with tubs...I just picked up the 9000 after owning the 5000 previously. I too was going to avoid the 9000. I have had it for a few days now and it is fantastic and worth saving the extra $$ for it. The only issue is that there are many adjustments that most drummers arent used to...cam action, strap/attack distance.... and you have to fool with them awhile (which almost sucks because you want to be playing rather than fiddling) But once you find the spot.......

| Bonmars i absolutely correct...I was so determined to just hook the pedal up right out of the box and leave the settings as is, because it outplays andy pedal I have tried right out of the box...that lasted about 3.5 minutes...I had the chain replaced with the strap, I had tried all the cam configs...it just kept feeling better and better but before I know it I hadn't practiced my songs for band practice the next day and I had been fiddling for 4 hours!
Now I'm addicted to tweaking...doesn anybody know and sites that have more information on tweaking the pedal.
IMPORTANT NOTE: IF YOU REPLACE WANT TO REPLACE THE CHAIN WITH THE STRAP USE A HAIR DRYER TO SOFTEN THE PLASTIC IN THE LOCKNUT BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE THE RETAINING SCREW OR YOU WILL STRIP OUT THE SCREW...TRUST ME I FOUND THAT OUT THE HARD WAY AND ENDED UP HAVING TO DRILL OUT THE SCREW AND REPLACING IT...not fun drilling out a screw in a brand new pedal. | | Message posted 3031 days ago | IP Logged |
