"One man's opinion(s)," if I may be so bold:

1) If I understood the comments correctly, it still had the original "stock" heads from the factory (which are almost never as good as off-the-shelf brand new name brand heads)

2) It needed to be tuned a bit better, IMO.

3) It's acrylic - it's going to sound different from wood or metal shells, especially if you've never heard an acrylic drum before. (FWIW, I've heard better-sounding acrylic drums, judging from the Pork Pies I've tried in stores...)

4) It's decidedly different from the DW snare drum that preceded it in the video - I found that as my ears got calibrated to one drum, that affected my perception of the way the next drum sounded. My ears adjusted to the darker, muted tone of the DW snare, which made the next drum - different material, higher tuning, no muffling - really stand out.
