| Hi,
I'm from Romania. I'm about to move to Canada . I'm an engineer , but I also play the drums in local blues - rock bands. I have a Pearl Export 5 pcs. kit : 22";12";13"16"&14"SD , 13"Sabian AA Regular Hats;16"Sabian AA Medium Crash ; 10 Sabian AAX splash ; 16"Paiste 502 Crash ; 20 Sabian B8Pro Power Rock Ride ; Meinl Cowbell . I wonder how does it make such things in Canada (second hand) . To sell here and buy there ? The transport is "a little " expensive too .

| debo,
I'd repectfully recommend you pay to have your drums and equipment shipped with you. When you get settled in Canada, you might find that replacing your kit will be more expensive than shipping them.
Based on the description you gave, I'm going to estimate that your kit has a replacement value of about $2500.00. You might only get 1/2 to 1/3 of that value if you sell them before you move. Besides, the true value of taking your kit with you is that you are familiar and comfortable with it. When you get to Canada, you can always spend a little bit here and there to upgrade your current setup.
Hope this helps and good luck! | | Message posted 2974 days ago | IP Logged |

| I transported a bunch of gear from Canada to Hong Kong. It's really expensive to transport stuff. If you put it on anoverland/sea transport it'll take about 4-6 weeks (at least). Insure everything!! It's pretty expensive to ship stuff. I'd expect to pay at least a 1000 dollars to ship it.
One time I checked a set of three congas on the plane. I packed all my clotes etc inside the drums and that was my luggage. I was charged for one extra bag. The charge was 100 USD. That was cheaper than transporting all three of them overland. But, too be honest. If I were you I'd put everything that I loved from the set (ie cymbals, toys hardware) in a bag and sell everything else.
If you're not settled, with a place to live it might take you a little while to sort that out before you even have a place to put the drums. Plus, there are a million and one drummers in Canada that play for a year then give it up. You'll be able to find a second hand kit without too much trouble or cost. Best of luck | | Message posted 2973 days ago | IP Logged |
