| Well... I missed all the fun... Stub thanks for putting out my points. So George let me ask questions. 1. Why do you play music? 2. Why guitar solos in every song? 3. And who is the leader?
1. Music is ment to be shared with others thats why we are called entertainers. Playing ANY gig is better than playing none. Practice does NOT always make perfect. You need to be in front of people of ANY age to perfect what it is you do not in your rehersal space. If that means playing bubble gum rock or pop or country to get exposure then play it. When you make millions of dollars and want to do something off the wall that's when you can. The Beetles, Stones, Who, Cream etc started off playing covers are you better than them? Nope and never will be if you don't play in front of people.
2. Your guitarist must be the bestest in the world huh? He must have everybody following HIM see HIS next SOLO.. What a load of crap. Again when you get to that point you should have made a lot of money first.
3. A band without a leader goes NOWHERE.

| | I know. We have guitar solos in almost every song because we dont have any lyrics yet and i dont think people want to hear the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. There really isnt a leader and we really arent that serious. I just wish we'd start actually doing stuff instead of just messing around for fun. We need to put our skills to good use and maybe get some moonaayyy. | | Message posted 2768 days ago | IP Logged |

| All these post prompt a number of questions:
1. Why do the guitar players need "heavy" amps at practice? The guitar player in my band plays gigs with only 30 watts and when we had 2 guitars in the band the second one only used a 15 watt amp. How loud do you need to be at practice.
2. Why would anyone turn down a gig. If you are just starting you need to take every gig that comes your way. Plus, if you would get a "free" PA why would you not do it. If you plan to play originals.. great.. but for now get a set or two over cover tunes down. It is much easier to get gigs if you do covers... then you can throw the originals in.
3. Do others in the band help you haul your drums when needed... if not.. they can haul their own gear around.
Like the others have said... if you want to have a band... kick the others in the fanny and get them going. If you just want to jam in the basement... then thats all you will end up doing.

| They are stupid and think they know what theyre talking about(i'm talking about my guitarists). Their amps are way too loud when they play but before when we practiced with their other crappy ones it was horrible and we couldnt get any good sounds at all.
We didnt turn down a gig. I'm saying that it will probably never happen anyway.
one of their amps wieghs more than half his weight. hes a small guy. But the other guy is bigger than I am but is the biggest p***ie ever. Every time I make him carry his stuff he eaither loses his desire to play or takes 30 mins walking down each individual step witht the thing. | | Message posted 2768 days ago | IP Logged |
