Hello all
i listened to metallica and I think that lars ulrich is really a bad drummer . Of course hes good , hes a professional and all... but compare to any drummer (who the same type of music )like jimmy degrasso of megadeth or Scott Rockenfield of queensryche( not exactly the same type ,but similar ) he have a bad style. I dont like his fills and pass , i dont like the sound of his drum , espacielly his snare .Except for kill em all , the drum is great . I just want to know if im alone to think that , bcause a lot of people seems to feel like metallica is the greatest band in the world and i cant have a good opinion of this people. Except for kill em all , the drum is great . and i also think that metallica sucks but im definitely alone to think that.

thank you

Things like that are always based on personal opinion. Lars is, in my opinion, a great drummer, but not as technical or fast as other drummers. But it's not always appropriate to judge how good a drummer is based on how he compares to other drummers, rather it is better to judge based on a drummers own merits. Metallica has been around a long time and Lars has influenced many of today's newer metal drummers who could be thought of as "better than Lars," but that doesn't (and shouldn't) lessen Lars' importance and contributions to drumming.

Very true Lee

Especially about the technical and fast part. I hate when people judge a drummer simply on that.
I personally dont work on my chops. at all. I do have pretty decent rolls. Just not 'Travis' fast.

so my guitarist said to me the other day "what kinda drummer cant do a super fast roll!"

"f**k you"

guitarists suck, tell him to whip out some yengwie malmstten, or whatever that fat fender playin bitch is. lars is ok, he has influenced a lot of drummers, including myself in like seventh grade lol, but as far as technicality, nope, not his strong point. but being technical isnt what drumming is about....neither is the FASTEST METAL DRUMMER.....sorry....had to.

Jake,

Ask your guitarist what kind of guitar player can't make his guitar "TALK" like Jimmy Hendrick's ????? That'll shut him up !!

Dont judge him on St Anger

Judge him by ride the lightning, the black album, master of puppets, possibly even load and reload.

But dont judge his drumming by st anger

no, bonham was dead way before lars came along. lars grew up in germany, and was a tennis player
