I use my B8 Hat's exclusivly in the studio I like the way they record, I also have a ZBT 16" crash that I use in the studio a lot...  Again don't listen to people making such broad statements.  Use your money wisely and hit the cymblas in your price range (new or used) then buy what sounds best to you....

I dunno-I've always used Sabian-from B8's to AAX, and I love 'em-the only kind of product that they put out that is CRAP is the "Solar" brand GOD! I once had an 18" crash/ride and it sounded best when I threw it into my crawlspace in disgust...

I once had a 20" Paiste RUDE ride/crash, and I had to put tape on it to muffle the roar that built up while riding it. As for using it as a crash, it sounded like a gong-Horrible! It did have an awesome big ol' bell on it though...

I'm using an 18" Sabian Pro ride now, and I like it; nice ping to it, although I wish it had a bigger bell ( I got bell envy!!!!)
