48 here.. I am on my second marriage I have 3 sons and a step son.  I have been playing since 4th grade, got my first kit when I was 14 and the kit I am currently playing in 1975.  I played my first gig for $$ when I was 18, did the full time thing for 2 years then the band broke up and I was broke as well.  I have been playing part time since then. Last year I played 48 weekends.

48 weekends is enough to call yourself a pro....  My first gig was in '73 on my Burnt Orange Rogers 5 piece kit (thats why I asked about yours) at the ripe young age of 14.  The guitarist in the band and his brother wrote AMY for Pure Parrie League.

I like to think of myself as a pro.  I love playing and it is a great part time job.  When I factor in all the time involved (traveling to the gig, set-up playing and tear down) the $$ per hour are not that great.  I do it mostly because I love to play.

I will be posting some pics of my "classic" Rogers set soon

Well I make less (a whole lot) than I made in the real world....  But it's nice to be free...
