heya, i'm james,
i have been drumming for about 5 months, and i dont know what i ever did without it! completely takes the stress out of my day, especially with Gcse exams that i'm doing at the momentUpset. My kit is only a basic CB 5 piece kit, but i think it's great for just starting out. Bought some new Sabian Solar hi hats and a 14" stagg crash for it though because i managed to bend my hi hats inside out and also i fancied a crash rather than just a crash ride, lol i know rubbish cymbals but hey i'm drumming on a shoe string, mind you for the price the stagg crash is nice. Birthday coming up though woooooo!

save up some money and get you a b8 pack. it comes with a crash, ride, and hats. its a great deal for starters, and its pretty cheap for 3 cymbals.
welcome to our world...Devilish

yeh i was considering doing that, but what i thought was perhaps because i know i want to continue with drumming that the next cymbal set i get , i save up for ages and get something more advanced and this would save me from updating later. i probably wouldnt get them anytime soon but what you reckon? perhaps some AA's or AAX's

depends on what you like. aax's are brighter than aa's, they cut through a little better depending on what you want to play. aa's would be for more of a mainstream rock sound, where-as aax's would be for more of a dave matthews/ John mayer sound.
Honestly, no matter what the sound, lately i have realized that i dont want to spend a bunch of money on some cymbals that are indefinetly going to crack and break eventually. i have wasted hundreds on cymbals that broke with-in 2 years of me buying them.
that may be different depending on how you play, but even when i didnt beat the crap out of cymbals, before the issues, i would still break cymbals that often. Ive thought about buying better cymbals now that i'm out, but i still look back at before and want to go the route of the cheapest. especially if your not doing any recording...Geek

Hey James! And ps, thanks everyone for the cymbal talk--I was actually just going to ask whether or not it's wise to get a b8 set, as I'm also assembling a set on a shoestring budget...now I know...and I hear that's half the battle. --S
