If you just want to know how to do the rudiments, maybe this site will work:

http://www.freedrumlessons.com...essons/drum-rudiments.php

As for the technique in order to do the rudiment, I've not actually managed to find a video of a close up on the hand showing you how to do it. I got one of the drummers in my local shop to show me. If you have a teacher I'm sure he will show you if you ask, or go to your drum shop and ask them to show you.

With fills around the kit, practise will quicken your speed. I practise single stroke rolls on a pad and pillow every night. Not only do you want to practise on a pillow and pad, but you want to apply it to the kit aswell so that you are also practising the movement of the body and playing a fill aroud the kit.

They key is practise, you may not notice a change instantly, but when you look back on how much you've progressed in a years time, you will definitely know that the practise has paid off! Cool Dude

The rudiments section of the Free Lessons site is a good compliment to the Firth rudiment pages in that it puts the rudiments in a musical context. That makes them seem a lot less like sterile, pointless drudgery. - Al
