Cavaliers, Cadets, Phantom, Santa Clara, Blue Devils ...

I like a bunch of them, really. Especially Southwind because they're based in my hometown (Lexington, KY) and their drumline is doing a clinic at my store this coming saturday! Wink Sponsored by Pro-Mark.

Welcome to drum-world, by the way...Unfortunately, you won't find a lot of marching drumline guys on this site...we're mostly drum-set dudes. But judging by your name, you may still enjoy it here. Stick around!

lol! Oh man it would take a LONG time to explain....Basically a "Drum and Bugle Corps" is a competitive marching band. The "season" that these corps are active is summer time only (when schools are out on long summer break) The age range of the members in drum corps is 14 to 21. But make no mistake...these "kids" can play their asses off! Especially in the "best" of the corps which are division 1 (I think there are 3 divisions---1 is the best)

These corps compete for points against each other, and have a big tournament at the end of the summer, where one becomes grand champion.

It's really a whole other art form, if you've never seen and heard them in action. They create some really incredible artistic things with music, design, dance, etc... all done on football(American) fields.

You really have to see it to know what it is.

Rich remember the clip of the guy doing stick clicks and playing on his snare rims and basically being a rudimental machine?? that was a drum corps guy... Imagine 20 - 30 of those guys playing various drums in an ensemble format...

The drum corp guys kicck some serious ass. Go and see it live and it will just blow you away. It is a competitive marching band... with ine exception they only have brass and drums... no woodwinds. The drummers that I have seen are quite good and you can tell that they practice a lot.
