evans G2 coated on the toms with G1 resos, evans dry batter on the snare with a hazy 300 snare side, powerstroke 3 on the BD with a evans eq3 on the front. loving the sound of the whole kit
same exact set-up here as menalaus (except for on my snares depending on which one i'm using being that i currently have 6 to choose from ) i have found that this combination offers a great controlled but not choked out sound , and also not only has this combination worked great with my band i'm gigging with ,but really great in the studio as well

| I actually switch brands very often. It keeps me on my toes. Helps you understand the variety of sounds your drumset can produce. | | Message posted 2761 days ago | IP Logged |

|
Sam have you tried Aquarians?
i have never personally tried them on my kits ,but i have used them on in-studio kits before .. also a friend of mine loves them on his kit ( a tama starclassic kit ) but i have found that the evans heads work great on my toms being that i can get a very nice controlled and consistant sound on them .. (the old expression comes to mind " if it ain't broke why fix it " ? ) but i have a 9 ply maple custom built snare with vintage yamaha wooden hoops on it that i had made for me and found that a remo fiberskyn 3 FA batter head sounds amazing on it .. i have allready had a half a dozen sound guys compliment me on this snares sound when they're dialing it in for the live mix at shows .. snares are i think a very tough decision because that is a prominent voice on almost every drummers kit, so it's all about what flava' you want . my snares are pretty much a " mixed bag" so to speak of heads on all of them to offer different voice options for live and in the studio ...
here's a link to a few pics of the custom snare set-up for the crowbar gig i played last month
