i think hes amazing, he taught me on drums most things i know today, obviously not face to face. sure there are people faster than him, there are people doing more complex stuff than him, but he i think is more a creative drummer than a lot of them speed freaks, and has a more subtle way of displaying his drumming prowess, and besides it would ruin it if he was showing off all the time. actually the first time i really noticed his drumming was on prison sex, the hi hat patterns are most intruiguing simple enough for me to recreate but still quite original. 1 thing though i cant find any drum solos on the internet, only 50 second clips, i read that he doesnt like doing drum clinics, cant say i blame him.GhostGhostGhost

I get the impression that many on here would not exactly enjoy a Tool album, a little bit of a generation difference...am I right?

Danny Carrey is a great drummer and percussionist and electonic triggering extraordinaire. He has gifts that most drummers in that genre do not have, and that is impecable 4 way indepence, understanding of how to slip in and out of time signatures and overall ability to contribute to the music of the band. Most rock drummers either like to play annoying blast beats or bash on cymbals. Danny is definitely an inspiration not to do that.

But, on a side note, you should probably look into some other drummers. They can teach you more than Danny can.

I got into tool because of one of my students. Yes, Carey can play. As to the generational note... There once was this new guy named Neil Peart. A lot of older guys found the music hard to listen to, but they loved his playing and got into it anyway.

The more things change, the more they stay the same...

I'm sorry, It seemed headed in this direction. I couldn't help giving a little nudge.

It had been sort of quiet this past week. We can't have that. Speaking of quiet, we haven't heard from Franny in a while.

I'm with you. Attitudes need adjusted sometimes and were up to the challange. Overall this site is a monument to how different generations can be supportive of each other.

...And there can be exceptions.
