Hey Drummers :)

Can't believe I've only just found this forum - I can see myself spending too much time at work trawling through all the posts :)

Name's Tom, live in London UK, and I've been drumming since I was 12 (I'm 33 now) - mostly self-taught - so that's 2 decades of bad habits!

Massively influenced by people like Will Calhoun, Jon Bonham, Clyde Stubblefield, Chad Smith, Tim Alexander (Primus), and I'm not shy to admit I derived a lot of my style from the Spindoctors' drummer Aaron Comess. He's got great snare technique.

I produce trip-hop, downtempo, ambient dub, and some cheesy funk tunes with my oldest pal, under the band name Universal Constructors (External" Target="_BLANK">http://www.universalconstructors.com">External Link). All our music is available for free so drop by if it's your cup of tea.

I use my beloved DDrum 4 kit to lay down many of our grooves and loops (although not so much using the onboard sounds these days), and I've got used to (read: lazy) tidying up in the fantastic Sonar sequencer.

I've accidentally turned into a total fanboy for the new 2box DrumIt 5 e-drum kit which is produced by the team behind the original DDrum systems (until Clavia decided to focus on synths and sold the DDrum name). I haven't even got mine yet, but I've spent a good few hours in my local drum store annoying the manager there. It's absolutely amazing, especially considering the price tag.

As a result I set up an unofficial forum at www.2box-forum.com External" Target="_BLANK">http://www.2box-forum.com">External Link and we've got a hundred+ members already (only been up a month) and bags more lurkers.

There's only about a thousand sets dotted around Europe at the moment, but the next batch is arriving in November, and it won't hit the States until 2010. Still some bugs in the first software release but they're being ironed out for the November run. Nonetheless, if I could get mine yesterday, I would :)

Check out their website here: External" Target="_BLANK">www.2box.se">External Link

...so enough War and Peace from me. Look forward to annoying y'all in the forums :)

Cheers
Tom

There are a lot of good people on here.

It's a great mix of people from around the planet from teens to 60-ish.
