For the most part I have not cared for the Zildjian A Rock cymbals that I've played over the years. I tend to favor medium thin, thin and sometimes medium cymbals. But you really have to sometimes consider who will be playing them.

I'm still putting together the Pearl Export kit for my nephew. I've been watching for A Rock cymbals cheap on ebay and picking them up one at a time as I can. I Think they should hold up better anything else I can think of and they are avalibe relatively cheap. (So far I've picked up a couple of crashes, each for under $100.

When this set it done, I think that it will suit him. I'll post pics of course.

Oh, and if anyone stumbles upon a 1980s 16" x 16" Export floor tom in black priced reasonably, let me know. That is the missing piece of the puzzle.

(I missed two of them on so far because I fell asleep and forgot to bid.)Argh!

Yes, they are the heaviest "A"s I've run across.

I have a feeling I wouldn't like them.

Lately I'm not really feeling As in general (too bright), and even medium is a really heavy cymbal for me any more, at least in crashes.

The heaviest cymbals I play are my Sons Z-customs. You have to knock the crap out of them to get a good sound.

My nephew is not a finesse style player, I'm thinking that these cymbals are perfect for him.

I think that would bust up medium-thin or maybe even medium weight cymbals.
