| I love that stuff, even though it's a little dated now. The soundtrack from the Movie "More" is haunting.
I like the early albums when Gilmore joined the band as well. They don't get mentioned much next to Dark ide of the Moon and all the later platinum recordings. But the live portion of Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother, and Meddle, while uneven and at times overly experimental, have some truly great moments.
I used to see them at the Fillmore East in those days. There would be one show a night at midnight. They took the entire 3 sided white facade over the theater entrance and replace it with pink. Pink Floyd in black lettering. It was a site that is still vivid in my memory. Damn, that was almost 40 years ago. I must have been about 14 or 15 at the time.

| It was a great place. I was just coming of age when it was around. I was there when a large number of those albums were recorded. it's closing was one of the saddest events I remember.
The Electric Circus was a couple of blocks away on St. Marks Place. It was a great club with tremendous bands there as well. A completely wild club.
It was a chaotic but great time to grow up in NY. Gene | | Message posted 1139 days ago | IP Logged |

| Mike,
I know about South Florida. there were tons of music venues back in the 70's. Used to play there all the time when I was on the road with various acts. Now there's nothing I know of other then perhaps the Hard Rock Casino. Gene | | Message posted 1138 days ago | IP Logged |

| I was never a huge Pink Floyd fan but I like them enough to see Austrailian Pink Floyd when they came to Pittsburgh in November. They played the entire set of The Wall. It was quite the show. Sounded just like them. I'm currently listening to Galactic (Coolin Off) with Stanton Moore on the tubs...Some serious New Orleans second line stuff going on there. | | Message posted 1138 days ago | IP Logged |
