For general purpose use you can't go wrong with Zildjian A or Sabian AAs in my opinion. I'd buy them used, one at a time. "A"s and "AA"s work well together by the way and are quite appordable used.

I got lucky near home I found a used drum parts store, I was able to pick up 4 cymbal boom stands used, 1 hi hat stand new, Snare drum stand new, arm and bracket for the bell and a create on wheels to haul the equipment.
Walked out spending $80.00

It was a gift I think each piece was $10.

polished them all up they look good and work great.
