Tonight: "King Harvest (Has Surely Come)" by The Band.

Whenever I feel like I'm starting to get wrapped up in drum gear again, a bit of Levon Helm is a quick reminder of what's really important in drumming. Cool Dude

BTW, that's one of the most outstanding examples "perfect drumming for the track" I'm aware of. Pleased

I've always considered him as one of my drum heros.

Fat backbeat, great shuffles, and tasteful fills that don't clobber the songs. It's never flashy, but always solid.

Other than Al, none of you have heard me play. Levon Helms is one of the guys I strive to play like.

From what I've seen, Mike is fully capable of a good measure of flash as well.

Thanks Al, I try to keep some guns in the arsenal when I need them.

Overall, I think I'm I'm a pretty basic drummer.

I think you are quite humble about where you are in your own drumming.

I put on ...

For anyone reading this thread who isn't hip to The Band or Levon Helm, here's a little taste:

Complete with his Civil War drum kit....

I started listening to him/them 40 years ago and have never stopped.

I'm going for 'Music From Big Pink'.

As James suggests, get a taste and keep coming back for more!!
