If this band was a person, it would be president. If this band was visual art, it would be the main attraction at Louvre. If this band was a book, it would be holier than the bible.

I think you should make that IMHO.

I would listen a little more if I were you. Millions of drummers have played 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 +. Don't you kind of wonder why most of them speak with awe about the way this man did it.

A little food for thought.

Dude...saying Bonhams playing is "nothing special" is possibly the most ignorant thing I've seen posted in a while...stop and listen to the precision of his kick work alone with a single pedal...if he were alive, you should kneel before him and lick the sweat from his nuts!

...don't mean to be too harsh ..I have to remember that you are a different generation...but Bonham is a personal favorite and a certifiable legend. Please avoid comments about Buddy Rich.

Well, I wouldn't go that far Pat. lol

But Matt, Bonham had some of the best feel, taste, and control of any rock drummer. Period.

Thats the thing with rock drummers from that era -
you can tell its Bonham playing, you can tell its Paice playing, Mitchell, Moon etc etc.
Their sound, feel and technique was so individual..... long before the days of ProTools and massive over-production of sounds.

I like Bonham and I'm not even a Zeppelin fan. The great man deserves His due respect.

I listened to Tenacious D "pick of destiny" sound track during the night.

David Grohl's drumming is dead on fantastic.Pleased

QUOTE FROM mrhappycow: "imo his outtakes are nothing special. just a regular 1 + 2 + a 3 + 4"

Kids today!! *sigh*
After that statement you are no longer allowed an opinion!! Im a noob L0L!! J/K!!

MATT, Matt, matt, why are you THINKING that someone has to play BUSY or TECHNICAL to be AWESOME. That's simply NOT the case!!

There are LOTS of great drummers that LAY IT DOWN and kick ass at the same time.

Not only Bonham had kick ass simplicity.

Check out Phil Rudd from ACDC, his pocket is so big you could put ALL your spare change from 10 years in it!! It's not about your CHOPS man, it's about knowing how to play drums to a SONG!! To make the SONG better, not make YOU look better!!! If the song calls for CHOPS by all means go for it. But if it doesn't, make sure you have the sense to play ONLY what is needed!!
