A more recent Steely Dan album I've been listening to recently and it's really stellar (would you expect any else?).

If anyone has it go have a really good listen to 'Negative Girl'. It's wicked groovy and modulates so much even I can barely keep up. Plus there's a really smooth vibes solo in the middle.

And of course it's produced and mastered to perfection.

I'm not sure why they no longer get attention, their newer music is as good as their 70's and 80's cuts in my opinion.

and a host of other great tunes...

Some of Jeff Porcaro's defining moments as a drummer.

THAT is a bummer.

And yet you know "What you talkin' about Willis?"

We really need to filter what "culture" we export from this country. No wonder other countries think we are jerks.

Argh!

No offense, but to me they're too commercial.

Maybe commercial isn't the best word. Maybe too slick or over-produced. I don't know. I guess we're back to different strokes.

Also, being too commercial isn't just about selling a lot of records, it's about being bland.

I felt the same way about them for years Al.

The musicianship swayed me.
