Ok i just got a Pearl FX champion 2006 marching snare my question is how do you tune a marching snare well i already get a good sound out of it by meesen around with it but i want a reall nice tone and i just cant get it. so how?
And then it came with pearll cc cevlar marching head and im wondering if a new head would make a big diffrence.
I would apretiate all replys.

try evans, remo or aquarian heads :)

Try a Remo Black Max, or White Max Kevlar head. It's a little thinner and allows more tone and bigger tuning range. The Evans MX snare batters are nice too. You have to crank them very tight to get a decent sound. Bottom head needs to be tight as well. Snares should be adjusted so that just make contact across the diameter of the bottom head, and not bend up at steep angles outside the diameter toward the snare strainer.
