So...

I like doing the acoustic duo with Bob. But, the last gig we did sucked in my opinion. I don't want to do any more gigs until we get some more practices in.

Bob thinks we can pull it off without practice and I just won't do it.

So we are at a standstill until he comes over to practice.

In the meantime...

I met two guy who want to do an acoustic trio. Michael plays bass and sings. Scott pays acoustic guitar and sings. All of us do voacal harmonies.

Tonight was out third practice and we have ten songs nailed so far.

The bass player and I are already "locking in" and getting a good feel for each other's playing. The three of us were playing with dynamics and different feels on the songs. It's not super flashy, but just good solid readings with a twist.

We took U2's "Within or without you" and made it very different, almost funky. We are covering Old Crow Medicine Show's "Rock me like a wagon wheel" and we are playing it pretty straight. My favorite song that we are doing so far is Sublime's "Bad fish". It really works with acoustic guitar, acoustic bass and cajon.

The vocal harmonies are falling into place very easily. Both of them are handling lead vocals so far, but last night we messed around with a couple of different songs that I'll sing lead on and I think at least one of them may work.

I can't tell you guys how much fun this is.

I was working on an acoustic guitar version of "turn the page" just for laughs. You might want to give it a shot it would be cool with hand percussion.

Sounds like fun... but it also sounds like it's going to take a heck of a long time to learn enough material for a gig with three songs per rehearsal!

It's more like five new songs per practice.

The first time we played together was more like jamming to see if we liked each other.
