Billy, I have to be honest - that's one reason why I went the DIY route with Tempus shells for all those years, while Paul Mason was still offering shells to other builders; I could build something for less than it would cost me to buy the shell and build it up myself.

Since that's no longer an option, I'd suggest the following if you want one of these drums:

- watch the drum forums to see if someone is selling one used; ghostnote.net and drumsmith.com are the places one is most likely to see one listed, in my experience.

- where else? Ebay. For whatever reason, depreciation really hits these drums; resale value is usually in the favor of the prospective buyer, as much if not more than other brands.

- Contact a US dealer, like the Drum Center of Portsmouth; they may sell under Paul's "list prices."

- E-mail Paul at Tempus directly. I seem to recall reading somewhere that the actual price is more favorable than what is listed on the web site; there was some sort of equation/formula/reasoning given for listing the prices the way they are on the site, but I don't recall it offhand.

Overall, I think "used" is the way to go here.

FWIW...here's a down-n-dirty sound file of this snare from last night's gig, just a portable recorder set a few feet away from the kit, no eq/fx...and not much in the way of "time" either, I'm afraid. Err...
