I was in the local shop looking through the trade ins and found a set of cymbals, hihat and ride, marked Tama.
I was not suprised that tama made cymbals, what suprised me was they were stamped made in Germany.

Smart aleck answer: play them, and if you like them, they're good. Devilish

One of my students bought an entry level Tama set a few years ago, and I helped him to get the kit assembled and set up. I only played the cymbals briefly - they were OK, enough to get a student up off the ground, but they didn't strike me as "diamonds in the rough." (It was a few years ago, so I'm afraid my recollection isn't any more specific than that.)

That someone was Zildjian, they also made Pearl Cymbals but I'm not sure if they still do.

Tama is now the Meinl distributor for Japan.

Tama also has Evans in Japan.

Remember Tama is Hoshino Gakki Co. LTD. company.

Go to the Tama Japan site and see, they have some snares you can't get anywhere but there.

No Luke look at the brass snare it's not like the U.S model. The have steel, aluminum.

You can get the B/B in more colors and more wraps.

They don't have a Rosewood snare in the U.S.

More colors and wraps for maple sets.

Road cases?

Take a good look.
