Yeah what's wrong with the heads that came on the snare?

Oh and it a 14 X 6 not 6 1/2

I play Tama Drums and I've found that Evans work best.

It depends what your looking for and what's missing.

Remo ambassadors or Evans g1s are good batter heads with a great 'crack'. Looking for a little more focus? Maybe a coated reverse dot. Too bright, how about a powerstroke or Genera. Maybe just a bit of Moongel and just keep what you have.

So the short story is you need to know your goal to choose appropriate heads.

Gene's right. Heads are such a personal choice. On my aluminum Supraphonics, I like the Evans Genera Dry. On my brass Black Beauty I like the Evans Power Center Reverse Dot.

I use different heads on different drums as well.

Another member here has a COB Supraphonic that I've played with different heads on a number of occasions. I liked the Powerstroke on it, but I think he just changed to a Genera. So, it really is about personal taste.

Great drum by the way. (High on my wish list.)

What sound are you trying to get from it?

Hi, I too have a 61/2x14 supra cob and have tried the Ambassador, Powerstroke etc. and found that the Evans Power Center Reverse Dot works best for me. I know that you dont seem too interested in the Evans brand but they seem to work well for me (imo) The reverse dot cuts out alot of the high range freq's and provides a nice fat sound, of course tuning comes into effect as well. Check one out and see if it works for ya.

Dennis

I forgot to mention a Evans Hazy 300 on the back side

Hey guys thanks for the feedback. I'm looking for a fat sound I don't like a lot of ring.A nice slap with bottom end. Maybe I'm being silly but I'm not really a big Evans fan and I don't like to mix and match. What about CS bottom dot? Evans tom heads sound a little dead to me what do you guy's think? Thanks again.Confused
