So I've been thinking about a few of my drum buying and selling decisions over the past few years. On the whole I think I've done ok but the one really sticks out as being really stupid.......
Why oh why did I sell my dw solid shell snare to buy and edge?
It was such a beautiful drum

My first good kit was a set of 1965 champaign sparkle Slingerlands. The snare was a matching 3 ply artist. I had all of the original hardware plus all modern (for the time) Slingerland hardware. The cymbals were a Zildjian "A"s that I bought with the kit plus some other "A"s and 2002s that I had added. I sold it all and gave up drumming in about 1983 because of tight finances with my first wife.

It took me years to get a nice kit again. That is one of the reasons that I don't sell anything anymore.

You want stupid? I got some "stupid" for ya...

Fire up the WABAC Machine and return to 1997. I'm finishing graduate school. At that time, I had convinced myself that my future in music lay with jazz vibraphone and marimba, and for that reason, "I don't need to keep these drums and cymbals any more, do I?" So I brilliantly sold off...

• my 1966 Slingerlands (13/16/20 w/ a matching 5x14 snare)
• my "@1990 +/-" Sabian HH hats
• my pristine Supraphonic
• my Istanbul K Zildjians, including two 20" rides and a GORGEOUS 16" crash

All is not lost, tho. I still have two of the Cymbal Springs. Argh!Argh!Argh!

I have no percussion related regrets.
I do however regret selling my 58 Fender console steel and my 41 Silvertone arch top.
Although I made a profit on them both I wish they were still in the pile.

Regret selling my '82 birch Superstars - especially forwhat I got considering they are now somewhat a collectors model. I have a CD we did in themid 90's with them and they sound great every time I hear them
