It's official, I'm playing bass in a Christian rock band. Dennis (Gunny P) is the drummer, so I get to play in a band with my best friend. (How cool is that?!)

Cool I bought a bass a few years back and was playing it and drums at the same time (just in a jam thing) The drums were just kick and side mounted snare played with a stick in a bass drum pedal with the left foot.
I have a brother and sister that are both bass playersCool Dude

I once tried playing bass. A friend tried to teach me how to slap. I was no good at it. Speaking of bass players, I'm not sure if you've heard of Steve Bailey, but he teaches at UNCW (which is in the town I live in). He's recognized globally. Just thought I'd share that.

Hi guys,
Yeah its really strange to see my best friend in front or on the side of me on a string instrument rather his sticks but I must say that Mike got on really well for the first rehearsal together. A Christian rock band is really new ground for me and Mike, the band leader writes alot of his own material so its cool that we can create our own drum and bass parts for the tune..I really had no idea that Christian rock was as popular as it is, but I'm finding out that theres alot of really rockin groups out there. Its amazing to me that Mike is a fast learner as far as picking up other instruments and and going for it. I probably would'nt have the patience to learn anything else, although I wish I could. I always had an interest in the sax. Just a pipedream though.

Yesterday I made a HUGE advance in my bass playing... It was weird, I'm just playing a LOT better.

This morning I was concerned that it was a fluke and I wouldn't be able to play like I did yesterday. I'm happy to say that it wasn't fluke. I really am playing better.

It's odd how things like that sometimes happen in giant leaps. I called Dennis and played through my cell phone and he could tell the difference even that way.

Very, very cool.

By the way, when you guys get sick of hearing about my bass playing, just speak up. I'm sure it can get boring.

I'm playing much smoother and able to play faster when necessary. It sounds more fluid and musical if that makes sense. Fills and turnarounds are not a chore, they are just coming naturally

It's almost like my hands have finally figured out how to do what I've been asking of them.

I'm not playing different things than before, I'm just able to play them better.

Makes sense. I notice that in my students from time to time.

It's like when they switch from thinking about how to play something, to WHAT they want to play, because some component of the 'how' has become subconcious.

Congrats!
