At the risK of seeming provincial, PUHLEEEEZZE GIVE ME A BREAK.

The way he plays he doesn't need this kind of bullshit.

Argh!Argh!Argh!Argh!Argh!Argh!Argh!Argh!Argh!Argh!Argh!Argh!Argh!

I'm sure opinions vary.

I'm guessing the answer to why he would do this is because he can.

And everytime he does something different with his kit DW and Sabian get tons of exposure. I'm guessing that they encourage these "artistic displays".

I thought the cymbals were sort of silly, the custom paint on the drums seems cool though.

Neil was a major inspiration to me growing up.

After many years playing and growing as a musician, I realize Neil has limitations. But it in no way diminishes what he was to me (and countless other drummers) as an influence.

I think he's earned the right to be eccentric and flamboyant. He's good for drumming and drums.

I will not buy any of his cymbals (have zero interest in them) but I hope he and Sabian sell a ton of them.

Lee the ride is really nice and the 19" china too. The rest, not for me.

I never saw what was so great about him, I mean Rush is a great band and what he played was best for the music. I saw them in concert and his solo didn't really impress me much, then I saw this,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47yxLg2RyXM&feature=related

and my whole view changed.

I don't know if I told this story already but what gave me a deep respect for him was not his drumming. When he left Zildjian for Sabian everyone said it was for money. Nothing could be father from the truth.

He left for a friend, you see he was very good friends with Lenny D. a guy working with Zildjian that gave him his first cymbal endorsement, when he was fired after Armand died, Neil heard about it and left Zildjian. When Bob Zildjian heard he gave Lenny a job, keep in mind that Lenny was like 70 years old but him and Bob were friends for a long time. Zildjian didn't even give him his pension, that greedy bitch Cragie would have fired him long ago if it wasn't for Armand. So Neil stayed at Zildjian because his friend worked there, you know he can play anything he wants and only moved to Sabian to stand by his friend, well that and the make the best freakin cymbals in the world.

I like this one too Buddy is great here and so is Neil. But Neil cheat and used a double pedal

That shows that Neil doesn't need his usual 42 drums and 64 cymbals to sound good. Buddy is just a freak of nature! He makes incredible moves look so easy.

I've seen Neil play at least 15 times over the years, going all the way back to the seventies...

I think he plays better for that style than anyone else. (Just my opinion.)

And although I've seen him have better and worse days, The degree of difference is very slight. His consistency is amazing.

I don't listen to that kind of music often anymore, but when I do it is often Rush.

I for one think Neil Pert is an exceptional player. If he has limitations they are that he is human. I believe I probably have far more. I'm a fan (despite the painted cymbals).
