I would go for an Allegra over the DW. I own both and prefer the Allegra. I don't use it as often because I don't want to expose the wood hoop sto loud gigs, but the snare is just stupid and likely ccheaper then a solid DW or Craviotto.

Strangely enough, the only Tama drum I ever really liked was an 80s snare. 14x8. I think it was the Artstar model or something like that. Great rock ballad drum.

If I had the cash I'd snap it up Rich.They go for about US$1000 here.
Thast being said its probably too loud for what I do most of the time these days too - I just love the sound of them.
