i have this slinglerland drum set, pretty sure its from the 1970's, i would like to know how to exactly pin point information on the year, and where its originated from, it says illinois on the slingerland name plate, dont know if they all do, i recently started stripping the shell of the outside so they r natural wood color, instead of black, i was wondering what u think about what i did, with the stripping of the shell, i have the serial numbers on the drums, jw..if ne one could help me out..ty for ur time....

Are you in Philly?  If so I can maybe send you to someone to help...  But you should be able to go to the Slingerland site and match the badge to get a general age and then narrow it down with the serial numbers...  I would not refinish them because they should have a paper label inside them with model number and serial numer on it.
