Some of those finishes are ill. Makes you want to have a go...I have to refinish one of my bass drums - perhaps when I get the new kit I will goto town and do the lot!

Where I work do this make this holographic film covered steel - could look kind of funky as a wrap (shells are wraps anyway, and too ropey to paint).

Oh sweet, man. Yeah, I still intend on doing that to my Yammies. Just short in cash right now, but I'll get it done this summer and post the pics (before and after) here.

If the auto paint thing is possible, do you have to remove the wraps first ?? Or, can you just primer over the wrap and the do the custom paint job you want ??

A custom paint job.....hmmmmmmmm......

I think you should remove the wrapping, cause if you gig a bunch or whatever, taking them into the sun, in the car, moving them out a lot, may cause the paint to chip and peel faster cause it wont have the rough surface to attach to. I removed wrapping once on my old kit. Its pretty easy. Just fond the seam and pry it with a screw driver all the way across, its only glued across the begining of the wrap all the way down the middle. Then sand the glue down smooth, and you can paint it that custom barbie pink that you love!

With wrap removal, I think it depends on the vintage of the drums. Modern kits are bonded around the entire surface of the drum - so I would use a heat gun to gently warm the wrap to try and reduce the chance of taking half the shell with it.

And I hope you can incorperate a heart design into the job - it would set the pink off lovely
