Hey guys - I am by no means a beginner - been playing for about 25 years now.  I have recently gotten back into playing but want to do more than play hard (Was in an 80s metal band).  I am trying to expand my technique and am looking for DVD instructional videos on rudiments applied to the entire kit, or even a good instructional video that can help break down solos/buttery smooth rudiments across the kit.  Any suggestions???

Thanks

I would suggest Pat Petrillo Snare Drum Rudiments. It's a Warner Bros. publication I think. Pat is a friend of mine and an incredible drummer. This is the only video of its kind to my knowledge. It clearly demonstrates the 30 most common rudiments. When you can play them well on snare, you can then begin to "orchestrate" them around your drums with your hands and feet.

Thanks Lee - I was looking at that last night and was going to take a chance on it since it was decently priced (I havent heard of Pat).  Weckls stuff is usually pretty good, but I want it broken down for me.

Thanks for the tip

No problemo! I'm sure there are lots more cool dvd's that deal some on the subject, but this should be a good place to start.
