| Of all the millions of bands in the world, I choose RATM to be currently my favourite of all time! So original, if anyone knows any similar style bands (rock-rap-metal?)
What I want to ask is if anyone ever got to see them live.... Where they any good? And, damn, if you did im jealous. Tom | | Message posted 2950 days ago | IP Logged |

| They are my favorite group too. I love the energy and the funk/rock/metal sound.
I never heard them live, but heard they do a great show. They do have a live CD, but I've not heard it.
The new group that formed from RATM and Sound Garden is Audio Slave. They have different sound but it's the same band with Sound Garden's vocalist. I like them, but not as much as RATM.
Would you classify the Red Hot Chili Peppers as the same genre? They have that funk/rock sound too, but I don't like them nearly as much. | | Message posted 2950 days ago | IP Logged |

| Gotta agree, Brad Wilks grooves are tight man. I love his drumming, he plays what fits perfectly and doesn't show off. I've got a couple of video clips of them live, they are really good.
However Audioslave kinda suck. Its just not the same without Zak's vocal talents. | | Message posted 2927 days ago | IP Logged |

I totally agree with you about Zak's vocal talents. That's where the "Rage" comes from. I don't hate Audioslave, but they are not anything close to RATM. They're like everybody else out there. They have a few good songs, but nothing spectacular or moving. RATM always gets your juices flowing.
I agree with you about Brad's drumming too. Not too flashy, but very accomplished and definitely can drive the funk. | | Message posted 2927 days ago | IP Logged |

| Gullanian is entirely right. I think the trick is to not compare RATM too much with Audioslave... That's like comparing the Foo Fighters to Nirvana or the Pumpkins to Zwan. They've clearly closed a chapter in musical history, and moved on.
Audioslave is a good band, but not as earth-penetrating as RATM was when they came out. Man, talk about a revolution back then. Tom Morello is just crazy, the way he uses his guitar to make all kinds of weird grooving sounds. And Brad is definately one of my biggest influences up to date.
Jep, I still miss 'em! | | Message posted 2919 days ago | IP Logged |
