I have kits with 22", 26", 28", and 32" bass drums, and am looking for a 24" bass drum kit.

I like the look of this line with the 'Vintage Bronze' hardware, hoops, suspension mounts etc. Three Ludwig Cymbal stands, snare stand, 6.5 X 14 snare,10, 12, 14, 16 toms, 24 bass drum. I can opt out of the pedal and hihat stand for another boom stand.

Any one have any idea of the quality or sound of this kit? I have plenty of vintage drums so I'm looking at new drums for a change. I REALLY like the look of these drums, and would appreciate any feedback/suggestions pertaining to this line or perhaps another manufacturer.

I looked at an Epic kit in my friends shop.
I was very impressed with the quality of the finish and fit of the components.Of course the import heads suck but thats to be expected.I think they are excellent drums for the money.

Thanks for the feedback Billy!

I'll be looking at the kit when it comes in Friday at the drum shop. I heard the same thing about the heads, so Remo's will be going on them if I decide to purchase.

I really like the look, but they only come in four finishes, and I'm not sure which one I like the best. Probably the Natural Black Burst. I'll have to see them up close before I decide. They also have the red finish coming into the store at the same time, so I'll be able to at least see two different colors.

I vote for the black burst for whatever that is worth.

I've seen the kits and they look great. I have not played one though.

I like black finishes. I sometimes wish my DWs were in the "Black Ice" finish. It's a really pretty black glass glitter. (Although I do think the "Broken Glass" finish is beautiful.)

By the way,You really have to search for the "made in China" markings on the kit. They are in tiny lettering on the edge of the badges.

Yes, I'm leaning towards the Black Burst myself, just want to see them up close.

Seems like everything is being made in China nowdays. America has gravitated towards the 'service industry' rather than manufacturing, and I guess that's just the way the ball bounces.

I have been looking for a 24" kit, and this one caught my eye, China or no. My discontinued 26" kit in clear maple (Accents) sound great with new heads, and were made overseas. The 13" tom was tuned a little raggedy at first, but with new heads and lower register tuning, it now sounds great. The 26", 16" and 18" floors were no problem to tune at all.

BTW, the Accents were in a used music store in Portland OR for $600 and I snatched them up immediately. Someone had already mounted the 13" on a rims mount and had included all new heads on the kit, so I think I got a pretty sweet deal. All the Remo batter heads looked like they had barely been touched, and the reso's were brand new clear Remo's, except for the Evans batter and reso on the 13 which I changed to match the rest of the drums.

I WOULD like to get a matching 14" rack tom though....

I was really surprised to fin that the bass drum is 18 X 26 rather than 14 X 26 and I bought a 26" marching band "Dynasty" hard case to accommodate it.

The Zildgians are vintage except for the 18" and 14" hi-hats and 10 splash.

L-R 24" ride, 22" ride, 20" crash ride, 18", 10" Paiste, 16", 14", 18".

Ooops...first 18" is a typo. Should read ...20" crash ride, 10" Paiste...

That is a beautiful kit.

$600?! Did you use a mask and a gun to get that deal? Just kidding, you did reeeal well.

I've never seen a 26" Accent bass, that has to be pretty cool.

LOL JUST the 3 toms and bass drum for $600. No hardware except for the rims-mount on the 13, and no snare drum...but I didn't want another one even if they offered it (Which they didn't), but the Elite kit does come with the 6.5 X 14 snare and I'll probably sell it unless I really like the drum.

As far as wood snare drums I have my piccollo that I built and my '52 Gretsch round badge. The rest of my snare drums are COB's.

The 26" bass drum mic'd as you see it is phenomenal, and I opted out of putting a reso head w' mic hole on the drum. I don't use any muffling device, pillows, or felt strip. Just the empty drum has a great sound with proper tuning.

I'm also thinking that if I buy the Epic's with Black Burst finish, I could combine the two kits as a double bass drum configuration, just for the fun of it and use two separate bass drum pedals (My Camco and Speed King)instead of my DW 5000...see what the 26" and 24" sound like together.

I meant EPIC, not ELITE...in the first paragraph.

Thanks Mike! I don't know why they discontinued this kit, but I'm very happy with the sound.

This is actually closer to the real color of the drums. I don't know why the other pic looks so washed out. Probably the flourescent lights on the stage during sound check that day.

I still think that $600 for a shell pack that includes a 26" bass drum is a good deal.
