| The Jim Riley clinic gave me some new things to work on. He handed out a worksheet with some "tab" on it with some fills that he uses a lot.
I've put them into my practice routine and already am nailing one of the simpler ones.
Practice has gotten difficult for me as I have a lot of things going on.
- I take bass lessons every Monday and work on the exercizes and songs that he gives me during the week.
-Sundays I have practice with "Soul Mission", the Christian rock band that I play bass in with Dennis on drums. I'm still a new bassist, so I have to practice all of those songs during the week to get up to speed.
-Once during the week I have a band practice with "The Green Ridge Runners", the acoustic trio that I' doing hand percussion with. Although I honestly don't have to pracice the hand percussion in between, I'm now playing bass on one song and singing lead on another. So I work on that at home as I can.
-Bob and I are active again with the acoustic duo which is now called "Feral". We don't practice every week, but we will be this coming week as we have to polish up our Christmas material.
-I generally have a gig or two a week between "GRR" and "Feral", at least lately. Soul Mission is hoping to play it's first show with the new lineup (Dennis and I) in January if we are ready. (I'm the slowest learner in that bunch.)
-And of course I still try to sit down daily behind the kit for a while every day to keep my skills up there. I have a bassist and guitarist who both sing that are interested in putting together a serious power trio. (The guys that I played with at "Livestock".) I'd love to do it, but I don't when I could fit it in.
On top of all of that is the house and family which I work hard to be with.
Retirement is busy...
