More than once..... Thank god it was never a bass player or the only guitar player so that the show could go on...

Once a guitar player, the only one in that band, didn't show. He went to the wrong place on the other side of town and had no way of finding out where to go in time. So we played that gig without a guitar player. Fortunately it was a zydeco band so we had accordian, bass, and drums. Oddly enough, nobody seemed to notice anything was missing.

I almost missed a gig once. Argh! I had a gig that started at 9 one night. I was at home eating supper when the phone rang. I answered and it was one of the guys in the band saying, "what cha doin' man?" I said, "oh just eating some supper man, what's up?" He said, "Well we're fixin' to play a gig down here, are ya comin?" I said, "OH SHIT!" The time then was 8:50. My drums were already in my truck, so I drove like a madman to the bar where the dudes were waiting to help me load in and unpack. We started playing at 9:25 Argh!.

I had no excuse. I just plain forgot I had a gig that night. The guys were cool about it though. They were laughing at me actually.

my band had a rehearsal during which we wanted to record the new songs and the one guitarist who also sang didn´t show up. he called our friend who´d been designated as our manager half an our later. he was at a club and had forgotten about our rehearsal. he showed up half an hour later with his gear (pedals etc) in one hand and a plate of chinese food in the other. needless to say the vocals on that recording were horrific. luckily for him the mix was a disaster with distortion in some parts so it wasn´t his fault that it was ruined. he still apologised for weeks though.
