Well now..  I played full time from 1976 till 1980 then again from 1984 to 1986 durring those days money was not an issue.  I got payed to play music, tour the east coast then later the southeast and southwest and most of all get laid by many, many women.  But remember in those days there were no "festivals" we were strickly college party bands that were also good enough to play clubs.  We all lived in the same crappy house (or at home) and shacked up most of the time with a chick who would support us when we were in town.  Now that was fun.

I'm back in the business full time again and now I play for MONEY.  I need to eat and have a house to store all my stuff in.  But I'm not on the road this time.  I play locally in Atlanta and will do weddings and other big money gigs anywhere as long as the budget works out.  Latley my pay has been from $50 a night (For 1 original music set) to $500 a night (for a wedding) when we gig.  However I must also compensate for this by running a recording studio full time, teaching when I can and running a small production company booking shows for other bands.  It is not an easy career but it's better than wearing a suit and tie and keeping my hair cut and pretending I like the 2 faced fraternity type people who end up in charge.

my band is planning to gig soon, but a friend of mine plays in a band and their pay depends on the place and what other bands are performing. the most he's made is R300 (just over $50) and that was alot to him.

Have played plenty of gigs but as they were all christian events I didn't get paid diddly!  Some possible work in the studio coming up soon.... woo whoo (scared too) but I think that could end up being pro-bono too!TYLERP38273.6078125
