A friend of mine and I have adopted "This is a dangerous place" from a song by Adrian Belew and King Crimson as our catch phrase whenever gotta-have-it-itis rears its ugly head. We know the other guy is in trouble if an e-mail starts with a photo of Belew and the phrase, "Yo, Adrian..." Devilish

Speaking of the evolution series I tried out the Dave Weckyl Sig HHX evolution 14" hats yesterday and was well disappointed...

For my tastes they were to dry, dark, and bland...

I really like the HHX groove hats; I know they're also dark but I just think that sound is perfect for what I play

I love dreaming about cymbals I want heheh
But this is one of those dreams the WILL come true before 2011 believe me on this Cool Dude

The tricky part with cymbals is the more expensive and nicer they get the more variety they have from cymbal to cymbal...

Every cymbal sounds different like how this hhx evo sounds great but the ones I played didn't...

You could be right Gene. The HHX evolution series really does speak to me.

I already have more pro cymbals than a lot of "mom and pop" shops, I approaching having as many as the big drum shops. lol

The 13" Evolutions are yet another flavor in my Hi-hat arsenal. About half of my hats are 13" now. I like the way that size seems to speak faster when I'm doing cymbal "barks". I'm speaking in general terms of course.

Matt, no hurry on the hats. Make sure you get something you really like.

Phil, I knew you would appreciate me diving into another Sabian cymbal family. I'm drawn to the AAX and HHX seies over the AA and HH. I feel my "A"s and "K"s are already close enough to those sounds. I love my AAXs though. I have them set up with the DWs right now. HHX and K Customs are different enough that I think I should eventually own both.
