The tragedy of my nephew passing away has affected me greatly. I don't know that I'll ever be the same person that I was before this happened. I'm hoping to be a better person who appreciates those around me even more.

I'm grasping for anything positive that could come from this. I have a little ray of hope.

A few old friends that I'd lost touch with showed up at the funeral parlor. One of them is a bass player named Jerry. He and I worked together about 18 years ago and did several musical side projects over the years.

Yesterday he called to see how I was doing and ended up stopping by the house. We sat and caught up and jammed together a bit. He also showed me a couple of things on bass that I'm going to work on.

Jerry has always been a great friend and I'm glad to be back in touch.

Every cloud has silver lining.
Being stuck on this couch for the last six weeks has really shown me a lot about the friends I have. It really means a lot when someone reaches out when your in need. One thing I have learned is that I want to be like that if, in the future anyone I know is laid up or in need.

When my grandma passed away a few months ago, a lot of friends and family that I hadn't seen in years showed up to offer their support.

I was very thankful and thought to myself 'I'll work really hard to see the silver lining here'.

Truth was I didn't have to work that hard. Good friends are hard to find, but pretty darn difficult to get rid of. I didn't have to look far to find people that cared about me.

If I know you at all Mike, you won't have to look far to find people that care about you and want to help you through this as well.
