The toms may be a little too high now PleasedGeek. The angles look much better, but it might be a little easier to play if they were as close to the BD without touching.

I would also raise the floor tom higher.

Remember when you are seated on the throne, with your feet on the pedals, your thighs should slope sightly downward, with your knees slighty lower than your hips. Use this info to set your throne height.

Lookin good!

Yep, what Lee said! Most importantly, don't be afraid to mess around! There's no standard setup when it comes to professional drummers. They all have very different tastes and very different kits.

Try with only one tom up top. Try moving some cymbals around to different places. Move the hi-hat closer or farther away. Change the angle of the snare drum. See what suits you!

Yeah, I tried it, and they are too high for me. I posted on the Drum Porn thread about it, but thought I should bring it over here...I don't want to hijack the Drum Porn thread into an advice thread for me. Pleased

So I took the advice of removing one of the mounted toms (my husband had suggested the same thing, from day one, but I *resisted* him "I wanna play it!" LOL) last night, and hadn't even read these past couple of responses, before I'd moved the ride/crash in closer etc. Here's the way it looks now, I just took this photo this morning...I think this will work for now. Except I still think I need a bigger throne for my....junk in the trunk. LOL

Oh and yeah I raised the floor tom and snare a bit higher. Also my throne...my thighs are at a very slight angle down now. Before, they were horizontal to the floor, I think.

lookin better, i would suggest also raising your 2 crashes to at least shoulder level when sitting and adjusting the angle on them so they are about half as tilted as they are now when companred to 90 degrees...Pleased

That looks really good, but I'm with you, I would have kept the other rack tom. I don't understand the push to minimalism. - Al

I think it is probably easier for you to reach everything now, and it is all about ergonomics.

Having said that, I think you could put the 13" tom back if you want. Just move the ride cymbal around a little. If you place ride so that it is just to the right of your 13" tom, but pulled in some towards you so that you can reach it I thing you'd be fine.

I hope you don't mind our 4,000 different suggestions. We all see things a little differently and want to have our say.

You could hang the 13" off the ride stand in the first floor tom spot in a 'one-up, two-down ' configuration.Pleased

Looks really nice Billie! Pleased

I think you could probably get the 12" Rack Tom a little lower. If you position it so that when you lower it, it's not going to bash into the lug, then you could probably get it much lower! Cool Dude

I second Lukes idea that if you want more drums, position the 13" before your floor tom. That would require buying a multi-clamp, so that you can attach the tom arm to a cymbal stand! Pleased

I like the idea of the multi-clamp for the 13"...I'll have to work on getting one this weekend sometime.

Last night my husband and I jammed some, and he critiqued me, I called it "berating" me...

...but he said "I also gave you compliments, you're doing fine!"

He put a pillow in front of the bass, which helped muffle it a lot, sounded much better, but I think today while he's at work I'm going to put a towel (don't have a small enough blanket) inside the bass so it lays on the bottom and touches the front and back, as one of y'all suggested. Pleased
