Congrats Ron!

I got a phone call last week from a guy I met, chatted with for 20 minutes, then haven't seen since October.

He asked if I was was playing with anybody yet("Nope"). Then he asked if I'd like to sub for his regular drummer who decided to go out of town for New Year's Eve?! (After the gig was booked) I told him how much that sucked and then asked him what kind of music did he want me to play for, when was practice...and how many times will we have the opportunity to practice before the gig? He said strictly old Country & Western, practice was tomorrow at 7:00p.m., we'd have four practices, their band was sharing the stage with two other bands, we'd only have to play for an hour and a half, and my cut will be $75.00....plus drinks. I said sure....if you like what I play and think I'll fit in with the others.

I decided a gig like this will only require a four piece kit and maybe four cymbals and the hi-hats...and my effects rack, mixer, one floor monitor, snake, mics, and cables (just in case). That's roughly one-third of my gear.

We had a great practice, played songs I haven't heard in about 21 years (I only remembered four of them), had a lot of fun, and surprised the shit out of each other.

Guess I've got a gig for New Year's Eve.
