It depends on how much you play... how many gigs you have and are likely to get in the near future.  Nothing beats the experience of playing live.. and if playing for free is the only way to do it... thats what you should do.  To me, New Years Eve is just another night...

My band will not play a gig for little or no $$$$.  But we play almost every weekend.  So it really depends on the band.

yeah, if money is being taken for admission or if drinks are being sold and its not some unlikely "charity" new years eve ball (that would be strange), you should DEMAND extra pay!!!

we go into a Nyears gig at for at least double. If we can get more we will take it.. Agent fee also goes up as well.... dirty bastard...
