| Hi,
This is an introductory note to Michael and all the percussionists out there.
I play drums but I am mainly on guitar, harmonica, and now piano again. I'm a composition major and I took three terms of percussion 30 years ago. Now I'm back in school taking Jazz Improv, Composition, and Marimbas.
I bought a Musser xylophone on ebay and I love it. In one of my past lives I was a carpenter so give me a hammer and something to hit and I'm happy.
Thanks,

| Hi all,
Thanks for making me welcome. I love all the drum humor. I'm too old to be a prodigy. But I do still work on my percussionist attitude.
Piano isn't a string instrument. Piano is a percussion instrument. Ask any piano repairman. When you press a key a hammer hits the strings.
Watch a Thelonius Monk video to see what I'm talking about in action. He's so physical the way he strikes the keys.
So here's my kit. Sixties vintage orange Kent drums with a wooden Ludwig snare from the same era. And I love my West German Camber ride cymbal.
I bought the drums in an antique store 25 years ago for $35. All of the hardware and the cymbals were acquired one piece at a time. I'm not cheap, I'm just broke. I'm not a great drummer but I have had some great drummers play my kit and they made it walk and talk.
Thanks,
