A local farmer holds a big party once at the end of each summer and calls it "Livestock".There will be 300-400 people there, it should be fun.

Bob has played there a couple of years as a solo act, this year he and I will doing our acoustic duo set.

I was asked two days ago to play drums with a classic rock band that has played there previous years. I don't even know if I'm going to get to practice with them. It should be interesting.
So... it looks like I'll be playing with two of the three acts.I think that's pretty cool.

I'll use my full hand percussion setup with Bob. I'm supposed to use the other drummer's kit, although I'll pack a snare, pedal and a cymbal setup.

The rock band that host this previous years was a female lead singer who played rythm guitar and was married to the drummer, a lead guitsrist that did some lead vocals and a bass player that did some lead vocals. The husband and wife no longer want to play out. The bass player is a friend of mine. He asked me if I'd want to do the gig with the guitarist. I figure that I was going to be there anyway, it should be fun.

Now I heard tonight that the drummer for the hosting band's drummer will be late, so I may be bringing a full kit. (Two cars.) I don't know which kit I'll bring if I have to, it depends on the weather. I might just dust off my faithful old blackrome Slingerlands or the Krupa kit.

As for the name, I'm not even sure what name they played under.

I'm sorry that it took me so long to finally post this.

On Friday Bob and his wife came by for dinner and so that Bob and I could have a quick practice before we played. At the last minute we were able to also have JK (the bass player) and Keith (the guitartist) over as well. So we did get to run through some songs the night before the show. (It was the first time that I met Keith and although I've known JK for a while, we had never gotten to play together.)

Early Saturday afternoon we arrived and the first band was setting up. We were told to bring guitars, drumsticks and any hand percussion that I wanted to use. Everything else was being provided.

The first band was called "The Dangerfields", they were a decent country rock it. The drummer had a beautiful six pc set of WMP Yamaha maple Customs.

Next up was Bob and I. I elected to play just my cajon for this set and it worked out pretty well.

Next up was the hosting band, which was another country rock cover band, this one called "Steel Whiskers" They were actually quite good, particularly the frount man named Bucky.

I handled the sound for them.

Then JK Keith and I did our Rock set. Bob joinded us and we did electric versions of a few songs that Bob and I usually do unplugged. After that JK, Keith and I performed as a power trio. Although we had only gotten to practice a few songs the night before we did a set of well over an hour. We covered "Little Wing", "Road house blues", "Crossroads", etc... Bucky came up and joined us for a few songs. They would turn around and call them out to me. The sound on the stage wasn't very good, but we played well anyway. I thought that our best song by far was "Superstition", the Stevie Wonder tune although we covered it more like Beck, Bogart and Appice. I as usual was critical of my own playing, but it was well recieved. This is the first time Jackie got to hear me do a whole rock set with a good band and she loved it. The kit was a 4 pc Mapex Pro M in bop sizes with Zildjian "A"s.

All in all, great night. It was dark by the time we did our rock set and the photos didn't turn out as well as I had hoped they would. Thanks Al for helping to clean them up some.
