I've been waiting to ask this...probably because I'm from the "Older Generation", but does anyone have any "lighting" in their bass drum (anymore) ??

Not me, but I've seen it on rare occasions. It would be kinda cool if you were going to do a "retro" gig, but I would have to wonder about any effects of the heat from the lights on the heads and tuning.

In my old Rogers set, I use to use 15 small white christmas tree lights, almost no heat and I had a small hole cut in the first skin, much like the mic hole of today but smaller. I didn't have them blinking or anything fancy like that, just on. They lit up the bass and looked pretty cool actually.

Just kicking it around.

(I keep typing BASE instead of BASS, damnit !)

Cool. Why not. In this business, looking good or different can take you far.

Hey SBL1, let me ask you something...I don't want to start another topic for this, am just curious...how many hours a week do you practice ? I myself try for at a minimum of 3.

I USED to practice a couple hours a day--years ago. NOW my life is so busy that I'm lucky to get 2 hours in a month! BUT, I play gigs all the time, so I'm actually still spending as much time playing as before when I add in band practice time, too. I wish I had more time to practice NEW things.

Taking the practice thing a step further...how do you "practice?" Method books/DVD's/Video's? Play along with CD's? Work on your own new ideas? Just plain good old fashioned jammin'? All the above? On what do you spend the most time doing?

I practice using most of the methods you mentioned, mostly with headsets on. I use the videos mostly for training. Most of the time I try to work on just plain 'ol rock and roll !!
