Most of the world's greatest drummers were classically trained (schools, etc.) and/or took lots of lessons......I know, because I'm not one of 'em   (I did go to school and take lots of lessons though)
I take lessons and I was just wondering what all you do
looon!eman, you should hook up with ASH to take lessons from him. After what he must have spent on that new drum set, he could probably use the $$$ !!Approve

I take lessons occasionally.  A friend of mine is a pro drummer.  I think you can get stuck in a rut when you're a talentless bozo like me and need someone to make you think of different ways of playing.  He stretches me because his style is TOTALY different to mine.

Also teaching drumming really improves your own drumming I think.  I have taught a teenage kid a few things and my own two little uns (6 and 8) and thinking about what you're doing and WHY you're doing it really helps.

I'm a total seat-of-the-pants intuition drummer.  So I need the discipline of doing something a specific way occasionally.  I also need to practice a LOT more.  I only practice during the warm up for the gigs at the moment.  Not a good way to get better!

pockyhunter, how long have you been drumming ?? This doesn't change the fact that anyone should or shouldn't take lessons, just curious.
