Back in the 70's King Crimson did some of their best work (in my opinion). This was the band that Bill Bruford left Yes to join. One of the key members, whom Bruford never ceases to list as a mentor, was the percussionist (Jamie Muir). Shortly after the band recorded their first album (Larks Tongue in Aspic), Jamie Muir left the band (and I believe he became a Tibetan Monk... at least that's one rumor I remember hearing).

Anyway... I saw this band many times, but all after the at the time legendary Muir had left. I was mindlessly surfing the net today and stumbled upon this video. I found it very entertaining. I had never seen Muir before. Thought others might like it.

Introducing Jamie Muir.......

When I saw Bruford do a clinic he played a video clip of him and Muir and played to it.

I never saw him before, but knew his reputation. He's a sight to behold.

And weird as it may seem to some, I love King Crimson.

The groundbreaking "prog rock" from back in the day, well... is groundbreaking. Early ELP, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Nektar, King Crimson, Yes, wow! I give it to Englishmen hands down when it comes to innovative music!

Genesis was my prog rock of choice. King Crimson was indeed a great thing to happen to music, but it got pretty "out" for me. I enjoy going outside every now and then, but it's not long before I need some order and resolution.
