So with all the cymbals I own I still have cymbal lust...

And right now I am headed for the dark side.

Sabian HHX, Zildjian Constantinoples and K Customs are center stage right now for me. I've bought a ride and or hihats in each of those lines and I'll work through them eventually. I have a Bosphorus Traditional ride that is pretty cool as well.

I know Gene has been a believer in the power of K Customs forever and Phil is a vocal supporter of the HHXs. I understand their respect for each line.

The advantage of keeping an open mind is that I'll grab good deals on any of the above as I can.

The 18" K Custom Dark Crash is currently my very favorite cymbal across all categories.

I own a bunch of "regular" Ks, I didn't realize the huge difference between those and the K Customs and HHXs untill recently.

Funny, I really generally prefer 'regular' Ks over K Customs.

I love my K Custom medium ride, but I think plain old Ks are darker, more vintage, and drier sounding.

K Customs are much more modern sounding to my ear, and brighter.

I'm not saying that I don't like my "K"s, I just didn't realize they were so different.

So for me it's a question of application. Most certainly K. Customs were designed for faster response, quicker decay, and a brighter nature. To me this is perfect for what I needed in amplified situations. They have some 'glassy' characteristics combined with the dark wash I find so appealing. This was a combination you couldn't get before the K Customs. Once you go to a little quieter or more acoustic jazz or whatever, it's traditional Ks for me (in my case constantinoples). Darker, richer, mellower. Beautiful sound, but back when I used traditional Ks in louder bands they could be inaudible at times.
