| Jools Holland was the piano player with Squeeze many years ago. He now leads the "Rhythm & Blues Orchestra" playing old style boogie-woogie, rhythm & blues, and rock & roll. They're a terrific band - saw them in Liverpool last Christmas. You're in for a great night! His drummer Gilson Lavis is as tight as a gnats ass! Superb drummer. Maybe Squeeze never got big in the USA.
Is it 'Later...' you going to or a gig with his orchestra? Heard the Tom Jones/Jools Holland CD yet? The BBC Radio 2 concert was awesome. Phil 'CrazyDrummer' Tyler | | Message posted 2657 days ago | IP Logged |

| Gilson Lavis is a law unto himself I think. When I saw Jools & co in Liverpool I had a great view of Gilson and he does do things a little differently. He looks like he's hardly trying most of the time and just when you expect him to do certain things... he doesn't. I'd love to hear him solo properly - he did a short one in Liverpool but more of an extended drum break than a solo really. Great technique.
Here's his cymbal setup info from Sabian.
