I was looking through Fork's cymbal offerings on ebay and they have several Istanbul cymbals in various sizes and weights. Does anyone know anything about these cymbals. I have never seen or heard one.

Every Istanbul I've ever used was fantastic. I use them in orchestra all the time. The Agop and Mehmet lines are both solid. Those are the ones I've used.

I've got one - a 22" Agop ride.

It's going to the grave with me.

I have an 18" crash that's quite nice. They're top shelf hand hammered cymbals.

I've played a 20" Istanbul Agop at the Sunday blues jam. It's a real nice cymbal, reminds me of an old "K".

Is there a substantial difference Agop and Mehmet, or any other Instanbul series. - Al

I don't think they are different series, they are actually different manufacturers. They both use Istanbul in their company names. Bosphorus makes a similar range of products as well.
